UK Visas - How long does it take?

Could anyone shed light on how long the application process takes? Visitors visa, 6 months (unless there's shorter options available). And tips to steamline the process welcome. I'm in Cape Town btw.

Our company travel agent booked my appointment for me - I paid an extra fee of something like 120GBP and my visa was ready within 3 working days.

If I remember correctly, took about two weeks.

Was in PTA though. Not sure if the applications needs to be send from CPT to PTA.

I know there is a good tracking website. When you do your application, you must also register on the tracking website.

Yes, there is a priority service.

R2600 is just to much for me to get a visa fast tracked.

Applied for a business visa in Feb and took 4 working days. No priority/fast track payments. One work colleague waited 4 weeks in August and another 2 weeks in October, so one can never be sure.
