hey man keep the cape out of it - or do you mean that south american horn?

hrmmm... any idiot can see that the country is not doing well. crime has not really decreased. who here will want to be treated in a state hospital? there are no real regulations in terms of pricing: eg ( cars, telecoms, banking, etc)

the goverment is not doing much for the average citizen, and go and speak to any balck, green and yellow person and they will agree.

I agree with ajak, these oppinions dont materialise out of thin air and yes sometimes we may be pessimistic about this country only because we see the potential it can be.

but to sit with your head in the ground ignoring it is very ostrich like, because the people out there like the tourists arent stupid and i would think twice about arguing with countries who actually know what they are doing and believe it or not are helping their citizens when it comes to visiting other countries unlike our wanna be international community 3rd world and 3rd rate country thinking they are something that they are not.

South Africa can be great, but right now it is not.

Neil Watson does it his way.I prefer to do it my way.

If they are not stupid then let them decide whether they want to come or not don't tell them it's too dangerous. If you can stay in this dangerous place all your life don't you think they might fancy their chances for a month or two's stay?

Getting the nod to host prestigious events like World cups for Rugby, Cricket and Football is not too shabby for a "3rd rate country". :)

Generally tourists want to relax and take a break not put themselves and their family's lives in danger. I originally came to SA as a tourist back in 97, I doubt I would do the same today - especially not to live.

Getting the nod is one thing - come back in 2010 and gloat then when its over. :)

yup if you think hosting sporting events is a barometer for a countries success then fair enough i cna understand the optimism.

but after visiting germany recently i still think this country has a loooooooong way to go.

crime
public transport
regulations

nail those three things and i would sing a different tune. dang i might even by land here.
