Question regarding house ownership during war.

So Russia starts their special military operation.
Women flee and men are forced to fight.

What happens to the house?

Let us say Johnny owes R2 mil on his house.
His house is far from the war front.
As he is not working, no massive salary.

Does the bank now take the house back?
Or does he now owe R10 mil in back interest.

Or white flag has been raised, tomorrow the bank expects their payment ASAP. But due to war his work place no longer exists.

Bad news for Johnny either way. The banks want their $, war or no war.

Well that all depends ...

Roubles or Rands?
Rand, we live in SA so for ease of understanding Johnny's crappy homeloan has been converted.

I just want to understand how that all works.

Wifey gets to flee and get all her excitement from OF, while the husband has to fight on the front line.

Want to know what happens after.

Rocks up to his house only to be told that is no longer his?

ironically in this scenario it might have been better for Johnny to live at the front ... if post-war his house is in the territory of Russia (and still standing) he can just stop answering the phone calls from his Ukrainian bank

But does Russia not own his house and land then?

Russia is playing nice with its new subjects so far, they've invested tons of resources to rebuild Mariupol for example

I suspect they will honour personal property rights after the war for the most part, but who knows really

I don't see how the bank survives if every Johnny stop paying due to the war.

I hope it is a jest, but the poor men is fighting to defend home and hearth, and thier wives are betraying them while they are risking life and limb.
