Yes I know it is an old MMO, yes I know the graphics are ancient, but there is absolutely nothing that compares to the gameplay. It is the one game that does not become boring and compared to the other MMOs out there it is simply addictive.

I have played Age of Conan, Eve Online, WoW, Guildwars, Everquest 2, Everquest and on the official UO servers and UO is still the one game that remains close to my heart.

In SA, there are not a lot of UO players and of course we'd like more people to join. Since it is free to play locally, all you need is to head over to http://uosa.unknownrealms.co.za to get the client, IRC & setup details.

I guess you could call this a shameless plug, but I for one would like to see more players ;)
 
When i played it at varsity i loved it. Played Guildwars but nothing compares to UO.
Its just kark old why cant EA just make a new one, they sux as$!

Is this the brand new 3D client?
 
Loved the old Ultima games! Is this similar in any way or is it just a MMO with a few Ultima references thrown in?

EDIT: Is there a local link for the client download?

Vegeta: The old 3d client really sucked so the shard is still runnign 2d. HOWEVER, the emulation development guys (POL) are working on a port that would allow for the Kingdom Reborn client to run (can't wait!!!).

Iwojima: All the details (including a link for the client download) is on the website.

As a side note: If you liked the old Ultima games (like me!) do a google search for Ultima remakes. Well worth playing the games with more updated graphics :)
 
Well, you can always ask on the UOSA forum for someone to send you a cd with the client?

It seems everyone is starting to play Ultima Online again!! nice!
 
I've been on the IRC channel some time ago to get an account and after waiting for a hole evening I just gave up. Was quite the m@er in actually:(
 
I would love to play UO :D

I played it once, many many many years ago at a mate's house for a few hours.
So is it rather active this here server ?

Its hosted on the SAIX backbone I think, so its basicly LAG free!

Its rather active every now and then. The accounts are free. You get them on IRC.

I've played on the official EA servers and this local server is actualy better :)
 
Been getting quite bored with all these MMORPGs lately, heck I'm spending more time in Entropia again. Maybe I should go back to the forgotten realm :)

Would be awesome if a proper remake of UO where created.

Hi, I'm Praeses and I haven't played Ultima Online in ~5 years.

Damn addictive game...
