I have been getting this message all day - I have tried everything I can think of from editing my Config.wtf to changing my hosts file in Windows 7. Nothing works.

Unfortunately, I have the US version of the game and I play on EU servers. This has never been a problem before (just change the realm list to eu.logon.worldofwarcraft.com), however I read on the wow-europe forums that as of the latest patch this is no longer possible. I now have to install the EU version (which is going to take FOREVER, not to mention how much bandwidth it will use). I just want to make sure, however, that I am the only person getting this message? Basically I try to log in (account has been merged with battle.net) and this is the immediate response I get. I would assume, were I trying to log in to the US servers, that I would get a different message, such as "Account does not exist" or something.

Anyone else having this problem?

Thanks

If you have another ADSL account, give that a shot. I switched mine and that seemed to sort it out.

I am using the EU client and change the realm list file to play on US, since yesterday i have been getting *Unable to connect* and this morning am getting *Unable to validate game version* :(

The servers are down for maintenance, so that might have something to do with it.

I get "Unable to validate game version" as well, but I just try logging in again until it doesn't say that anymore and it goes through.

My guess is they changed the dynamics of the client slightly to check with the servers so that you can't use a US copy to play EU version... bummer.... too bad though that I have to suffer with that message even though I have the EU version on the EU servers...

I was doing the same thing, only the other way round (US client on EU servers). Blizzard's latest patch has now prevented that from happening as all locale information is no longer in the Config.wtf file. Last night I had to download 10GB worth of WoW and patches so I could have the EU version - needless to say it now works.

Is there maybe a local link for a full US wow download?

I've never seen one. We should mention it to WAGE - Web Africa's gaming site. They're putting the WoW patches on their FreeZone, so maybe we can convince them to upload the full EU and US clients.

yes but looking at when he posted it's a problem experienced before the servers went down ;)

Just to clarify.

Figured out what it is!

If you're running PeerBlock then it's blocking the IP address from Blizzard's server that collects non-personal data....

I got "unable to validate game version" twice since the patch. I just tried again and it worked fine. No real loss. Last night, my game client repatched itself as well ??

I am guessing there are some issues which are currently out there and we should expect some minor patches :D

Yeah, the latest patch was another hotfix. This has been a pretty shaky patch from the beginning. I also had trouble with the game version validation, but it usually only happens every now and then.

I wouldnt go so far as to say the patch was shaky. I have enjoyed it. In fact If I compared it to other patches which delivered new content, and not expansions, I would say I have had more fun as a result of this patch as opposed to say, the ZA patch, or Sunwell.

Thx

I use Vodacom usb modem, and my friend give me some suggestion.
i'm trying now.

Here's how to revert and repair:

1. Open your World of Warcraft directory (This is commonly located at C:\Program files\World of Warcraft or C:\Users\Public\Games\World of Warcraft for Vista users).
2. Open the folder called "Data"
3. Delete Patch.MPQ, Patch-2.MPQ, and any other file with the word "Patch" in it that ends with "MPQ"
4. Run the repair.exe utility found in the World of Warcraft directory
5. Click the button "Reset and Check Files"
6. The repair utility will say, "World of Warcraft is seriously damaged and will need to be reverted to an earlier version. After it has been reverted you may need to patch up to continue playing."
7. Once the repair utility has completed, you will need to reapply the patch to enter the game.

Is anyone that has either US or EU and trying to play on opposite client able to log in at all?
