Unacceptable internet speed - Goodwood

So I've been struggling with really really poor internet speeds the last week or so and I have finally done a speedtest on www.speedtest.net and my results were SHOCKING!!! The download part of the test took 16 minutes (yes MINUTES!!!!) to complete, and the upload part took about 30 seconds???

Results:

PING: 848ms
D/L: 0.09Mbps
U/L: 0.12Mbps

This is on Telkom dobroadband 2Mbps line Capped. No I'm not soft capped I am on 12% so far.

Weird thing is that sometimes I get a spike in the speed and it feels like my ineternet is fine but it normally doesn't last more than 2 minutes. Most of the time I try to open webpages (both local and international) the cursor on the tab wil just turn round and round showing that he page is loading but the page never opens up. Sometimes stopping the page from loading and then refreshing it the page will open instantly, but most of the time nothing happens...

Just did another test and the results:

PING: 630ms
D/L: 0.08Mbps
U/L: 0.19Mbps


Again the downloading part took more than 8 minutes (screensaver time). Upload took about 30sec?? This doesn't make sense to me??

I'm no TI subscriber, but apparently Telkom have been having issues on their ISP side of things. Not sure if that might be causing your issues?

Just to make sure it's not your ADSL line that's acting up, try out Afrihost's free 1GB account and run a few tests and see if it's any better. Afrihost Free 1GB

If it's still slow on the Afrihost account, then we can investigate further

Ps. you have to "buy" the 1GB account, but I assure you it's 100% free
