check those hard drives:
http://www.westerndigital.com/en/products/Products.asp?DriveID=189&Language=en

"WD produces the world’s most reliable SATA drives. With 1.2 million hours MTBF, enterprise duty cycle, 5-year warranty, next-generation SATA technology, and state-of-the-art vibration tolerance, WD Raptor drives offer the best combination of reliability, high capacity, and performance for enterprise applications."

1.2 million hours mean time before failure is ~= 137 years!!!

are they for real! Hard drive that lasts on average 137 years

If they sitting in lab like conditions its possible. No external vibration, properly corrected power supply, no switching on and off, temp and humidity controlled .....

yeah it could be possible.

/edit I have a 8 year old Quantum Fireball Bigfoot that has yet to fail dnt ask me why i still have it lol
