Hi guys
I managed to turn my 5102G into a brick by upgrading the firmware to the latest 5200 version (it was a bad day OK)

the router looks like it's working just by looking at the lights when it's booting up. The sys light is on, the 4 lan port lights go through their little christmas pattern of booting up and with a lan cable in, the correct port stays lit and the ADSL light continueusly flashes like it's looking for a connection.

now for the bad news:
DHCP doesn't seem to be working.
I've tried setting a static ip and telnet'ing into 192.168.1.254 and 10.0.0.2 as well as trying the http interface with no luck at all.

any help in getting my brick back to life will be much appreciated.

here are the instructions to recover a billion 7300 routers firmware. not sure if this works on the 5102G but it's worth a try :) If this doesn't work try the billion support email or phone number. they are usually really jacked.

Recovery procedures for non-working routers (e.g. after a failed firmware upgrade flash):
Hold the Emergency/Failure Recovery Button on the back of the modem in. Keep this button held in and turn on the modem. Once the lights on the modem have stopped flashing, release the Emergency/Failure Recovery Button. The modem's emergency-reflash web interface will then be accessible via http://192.168.1.254/ where you can upload a firmware image to restore the modem to a functional state. Please note that the modem will only respond via its web interface at this address, and will not respond to ping requests from your PC or to telnet connections.

thanks Gambit
unfortunately it doesn't seem to work on the 5102.

I contacted billionsa and they have referred me to 2C Telecoms so I'll give them a call tomorrow.

I bricked myne a year back. I posted a thread on MyADSL how I fixed it, i will look for it and get back to you!

Telnet to the router and type "sys romreset" and it restored to the old rom with defualt settings.

edit: if I manage to get in, I'll give that cmd a bash

The problem is determining what IP address it is using.

Try 192.168.0.1 subnet mask 255.255.255.0

(mine reverted to that after I flashed the ROM)
