Does anybody knows what is going on? The service is to be terminated or the price hicked to anything from R799 - R999? Somewhere I smell something ... like egg on their faces!

Interesting, I'm on the 512kbps offering and have had no indication of a price change.

Where did you see this? Btw, the service was always a trial and never launched.

Trail? 1st word I hear about a trail. I read on MBB about the R519 offering and send an email to Laurie, after which he had it changed. Afterwards Laurie send me an email and said it's not viable and would be fased out or a pricehike would kick in. I send him the link to SAINET's R499 offering and he replied that he's not going to match it, as uncapped is not viable.

"We are not attempting to match. uncapped offerings are not viable.

Regards
Laurie"

and

"You received the notification, there is no further information available other than that. The most likely event is that the
product will change to one that is viable. In your position if price is the only issue then the prudent choice would be
to go with someone with a price guarantee, because the product in its current form is not sustainable at the price
on offer and if it is not sustainable for us it is highly unlikely it will be sustainable for anyone else without seriously
degrading the service. L"

So move to SAINET, simple

Well if the < 384kbps subscribers are still safe then Cybersmart is still cheaper. Time will tell I guess, until then I'll stay on CS.

Ps. the search facility on the SAINET site is awful, cannot find anything about shaping.

I've always been happy at Cybersmart, the service is excellent, but my budget does not allow me to pay more, and I've been with them for years. I've send them a lot of customers, especially the 384 uncapped, now everybody is complaining.

Were you on the 384kbps service or just making enquiries?

Yes, safe for now, but as Laurie explained, maintaining the uncapped accounts isn't viable for Cybersmart....

As for the SAINET site, I wouldn't know dude.

My info says June.

Firstly, even if your info was correct, this is the dark continent....what are the chances (seriously) of things actually being launched on their advertised date?

Secondly, the cable is even completed yet, yes, we have our portion laid at the landing station but its far from complete

Hi

Let me clear this up once and for all. If you were lucky enough to get an uncapped trial account at R134 (line) + R385= R519 then the price will stay like that indefinitely. We discussed this internally and the consensus was that it is poor form to punish the guys that have helped us trial a service by changing either the service or the price. As indicated in the notification that was received this will not be launched as a commercial service as even as an average the amount used by the trial users was not in line with what we expected it to be. There are a couple of our resellers who are still offering uncapped services as they had already signed contracts with us to provide this service and we are contractually obliged to do so for the contract term.

The weekender product coupled with nightrider will give you almost the same download capability at a better price and it is a viable product which is the reason we have launched it commercially

Regards
Laurie
