Ok so I have been given an unused uncapped account by the company which includes the Cisco router supplied by the ISP.
Only problem is that I have WiMax at home that has a RJ45 connector on the modem which I connect to a Linksys WRT54GL router (DD-WRT OS) that does the PPPOE connection. The Cisco router comes with a RJ11 connector and has it has a builtin modem. So you can see where my problem comes in. However I have full access to the Cisco router and was wondering if it would be possible to mimic the settings on the Linksys router?
If I look at the Cisco config it looks like it has a static ip address for the loopback interface, makes a normal PPPOE connection to the ISP on the dialer interface and then a L2TP connection on a virtual interface. However here is the part that worries me. That virtual interface makes use of a pseudowire-class that makes the local interface look like an ATM class. This part I do not think the Linksys router can do.
Unfortunately I only know enough about Cisco to get me by. This however is above my knowledge level. Any ideas?
