Ok so clearly for me this Afrihost is a failure and my business will go elsewhere.
I dont need to play word games and be treated unfairly by any company.

What I want to know is:
1) Which company to go with for 4mb
2) Which company will not cap me after 60 gigs or throttle me. To me if you throttle me, you cap me.
3) pings? Who offers decent pings.

Thanks

I haven't felt any throttling, and i've done 89gigs so far

how does mweb's news server handle?
Uncached download speed?
Cached download speed?
Retention on cached stuff? (just guess)

It may be too early to tell. I think you will need to see how these accounts perform over a month or two. At that stage we will know how much each ISP allows without calling it "abuse" and to what extent they have shaped people throughout the month. I would not even consider switching my accounts until I see this for myself.

Likewise...which is why I haven't jumped ship on Neohell yet

I have mweb uncapped.

Done 68 odd gb's running just fine, the mweb news server seems down for the moment and i personally don't recommend free news servers unless you want slow speed. If you are going to pirate thousands of rands worth of goods FFS cough up 80 bucks extra for astraweb uncapped.

Torrents and nzb's are basically useless during working hours but after hours you can easily pull 9gb in a night, if that is not good enough look elsewhere. Pings at the moment suck but they will fix it i hope as it seems a general IS problem.

I am extremely happy with mweb, youtube video's load so fast i cannot believe how fast a 360p loads actually.

I subscribed to Mweb 384k service and it's hopeless, Browser pages won't load and at one time one couldn't even open MWeb home page. Latency seems huge and ping tests showed a very poor service level even at 5am in the morning. Comments elsewhere on this site indicates that the 384 service is "crap" So I have dumped it and back to my Axxess Pro service, but I will be trying Axxess uncapped 384 next month. Now fighting with MWeb to get my money.

um, no... sorry. I think we can safely say by now that Neotel is dead in the water.

What on earth are you still doing with them?

Waiting to see which uncapped service looks the most promising. Also recently saw news about CDMA being dumped for broadband usage and that Neotel customers will be upgraded to wimax at no extra cost (if fibre access isn't available in the area). If this results in the 5gig packages, and upwards, being transferred I'll have to see what that's like. Wishful thinking I know

on mweb and the thing that remains to be seen is whether they have a magical number where they start to see you as an abuser. i haven't heard of any such treatment so fingers crossed. for me the service is not bad. i had the axxess express+ account before. the lack of standard times when you start to get full speed is annoying but i will wait to see whether this additional bandwidth they will be getting will help change that.

i noticed that i was getting between 50-100kB/s on news servers during the day. That's not to bad by me. All in all, I am cautiously optimistic about the service.
