Uncapped data prices: FTTH vs ADSL

You have to laugh at the prices when you compare to overseas, UK uncapped 50MB 17 pound (R340) a month.

Surely Cybersmart Lightspeed should be on that list?

Yeah, of course it would be nice if these fibre options weren't only offered in Bryanston, Fourways, Parktown etc...
The rest of us plebs can also afford the service, but we don't live there...

+1. From the table it appears FTTH is now cheaper than ADSL. If consumers in areas outside Bryanston etc are already paying for the more expensive ADSL they would surely be willing to pay for the cheaper FTTH. I suppose they had to start somewhere and FTTH will soon be rolled out to other areas / force price of ADSL further downwards.

What's the point? Smart Village's network is often down and their throughput is optimised for local sites, for internal websites the speed drops drastically. Mampara Village if you ask me :(

Pretty sure it comes down to penetration. Affluent areas probably have a far higher percentage of the houses connected to adsl than a poorer area, even if individuals in the poorer area are connected at high speeds.

Remember when vuma tel and I assume others come into a suburb they put a box at every single house.

Is the FTTH prices the only amount subscribers have to pay each month?

Can't wait for the day those strands are available where i live. I'm sure the infrastructure is already laid out through quite a lot of areas
