i'm quite sure its the isp's duty in this case to exactly inform you when you have reached your threshold and how much you have downloaded.

apart from just you seeing your speed drop to 50% at their whim...

Who is the account through? Have you asked them about it directly?

Claiming that they do it on a whim means you are assuming they're not playing by the rules.

does it matter who it is through - haven't seen one of their web sites some sort of system that alerts you that you are threshold... its a guessing game if you are the client.

apart from your honesty as a user of the product its fair i would think for them atleast to pre or at the threshold moment warn you.

...not allot to ask if you pay them R1000+ for something a month ?

Do you have one of these accounts?

Do you have one of these accounts?

yes - as i confirmed with mr beep. i am testing one of them for Sept.

in two minds if i should break it to see that threshold implemented, not sure a 20KBps surfing would be nice ;)

What happens then when you log in to the ADSL usage tracker?

in true south african style it still shows August's usages hehehe...
...extremely help full, but does however show a single

Username ESR Session ID Login time Logout time Session Length (hh:mm:ss) Megabytes Sent Megabytes Received Total Megabytes Sent and Received Session IP Address Disconnect reason

summary

suppose it will reflect on Monday :)

...for interest sake isn't it in the new adsl regulations that your isp or their supplier must give you reflection on what and when you have used via email ?

is it to difficult them to implement a system the mails your clients their usage for a limited set by them ?

Section 3: consumer protection issues

3.1 – Subscribers who enlisted for the ADSL service prior to the introduction of the monthly cap shall have an election to abide by, terminate the contract for the service upon notice to the Telkom, SNO or ISPs or vary the terms and conditions in relation to the monthly cap.

3.2 – Subscribers that have reached the monthly cap shall be allowed to top-up their monthly cap without the need to purchase a new user account. This provision shall not in any way be used to prevent subscribers who choose to purchase new accounts once their monthly cap has been reached from doing so, should they wish to do so.

3.3 – Telkom, SNO and ISPs shall inform subscribers, at least on a weekly basis, of their bandwidth usage until the monthly cap has been reached.

3.4 – Local bandwidth usage shall not be subject to the cap

3.5 – Telkom or SNO shall publish updated information on ADSL-enabled exchanges in the white pages of the telephone directory or electronic directory

3.6 – Telkom or SNO shall install the ADSL service within thirty (30) working days of receipt of an application if the applicant qualifies and resides within an ADSL-enabled exchange area.

clearly doesn't read "And the client will browse and inform himself of the usage"
