You can pick any ISP that offers uncapped, there is no best ISP, all ISP's throttle your speeds when downloading too much. Yes there is a difference between 384, 1024 and 4096. 384 is the slowest ADSL (You get an average download speed of about 30kb/s) and 4096 is the second fastest (average download speed of about 400kb/s). Just look for an ISP that is the most affordable to you. Openweb has got some good deals.

Whatever package you choose, make sure it's with OpenWeb Gold.
They are hands down the best out there. Unlike other ISP's you're not just restricted to one network / backbone. You can choose to be on any of the following :
Altech
Neology
Vodacom
IS
and a few others, IIRC.
If you go with the usuals, mweb, afrihost, etc, you'll be "restricted" to only their networks. If something goes down, you're "stuck" there. With OpenWeb Gold you can be put on any number of networks.
I've been with them for over 2 years now and have never been offline...ever. (Even when the mweb people were down or crawling, I was downloading full speed.)
So use it, don't use...I'd suggest you use it ;)
Good luck with your decision.

wait u confusing me:
Altech
Neology
Vodacom
IS

or OpenWeb? and what do u mean they lock you down or they dont lock u down to the backbone or network
I understand that IS is pretty good, and particularly any IP range of 196 because the Telkom 44.xxx.xx.xxx or is it 41.xxx.xx.xxx cant remember, i have issues with it when i download from sites such as www.tunescoop.com or www.4shared.com because when i click download the page repeats itself and it is really a pain in a ass. when i use for example afrihost or axxess i have no issues and the download works.

but seriously, are you saying i must choose openweb? although their packages say that they also throttle torrent and emule or limewire type networks
Never heard of the other ISPs u mentioned which is cool to know now, and i guess i am missing out ?

Openweb is quite good. Got one of their specials some time back, been happy ever since

Mweb uses their own backbone
Afrihost uses IS
OpenWeb uses IS, Neology, Altech, Vodacom, etc. (Whichever one you prefer.)
If one backbone, say IS is slow or crappy, you simply request to be moved to a different backbone, say for instance Vodacom.
If someone on mweb is slow or crappy, they have nowhere to go, they have to stay on the mweb backbone. Same with Afrihost staying on IS.

OpenWeb FTW, 6 - love.

I use MWEB and havent had any problems... I download between 200Gb - 400Gb per month no throttling!

Try PLUGG - no issues so far.

I do about 400GB - 500GB a month

They also offer 2 concurrent connections
