Uncapped options and throttling

Hmmm, where can I find details about the uncapped cybersmart account? Seems like a good performing account type.

1. Axxess Uncapped
2. Slow. Its good enough for email, browsing and even skype tho. Personally, I have a 1 gig top up account[/B]. If I need to get anything done that needs speed during the day, I switch to that.
Now that is proper depressing.

1. MWeb
2. Full NZB speeds during the day ~420 kB/s (don't use torrents)
3. Full NZB speeds at night ~420 kB/s
4. Works great
5. 4 Meg.

Suggestion: Should add a 6. in for ping times to local/gaming servers - say SGS BC2 or SGS COD ?

1. Afrihost
2. Torrents speeds between 10kn-35kb (this was tested from 11:20am till now 02:12pm)
3. Not yet tested
4. Works (HD clip)
5. 4096

6.Average MS on SGS server 50-60ms (im in CT)

MWEB Sales Rep :D
The accounts from imagine, are they true IS accounts?

So 'true IS' that all we do is link our radius servers to them, stick on an email address and then offer 24/7 weekday support.

It'll be the other products we soon add to them... e.g. cheap telelphone calls that will separate us.
Again, as with the IS Uncapped Express+ - it's just a very simple resell of an IS product.

Here's my first day with axxess uncapped 384:

Ignore the 40kbs around 14:00 - I switched to Telkom, I got pissed off with the time a yum update was taking.

The night stuff was predominately a opensuse iso download from a local server (opensuse.mirror.co.za) I'll test international tonight.

Browsing speed and ssh connections during the day are fine.

More tomorrow.

Yes, if you run SSL on you ISP you can get full speed.

I find SSL does not give me full speed during the day but at the moment during the day i get max of 90kb/s on astraweb and at night 330 or so. I know people can run full using a certain way but i have no idea what they are doing.

I am definitely thinking twice about signing up with afrihost after a friend who signed up for 4mb uncapped was told she was going to be throttled down to a 1mb line after downloading only 60 gigs...they make no mention of this anywhere on their website and I have to wonder how many other users they have done this too.
