It would seem that Telkom have thoroughly screwed up what was a perfect product by capping their uncapped offering after over a year of good service.

Are there any reliable alternatives? I only browse, stream and newsgroups on a 2MB line. I don't want MWEB, not interested in a letter telling me I've used to much uncapped internet; and also not Openweb, I don't have the patience to change an account 10x a month and Telkom getting the blame.

Is there anyone left?

isp's are like take away outlets, you need to change them often otherwise its no longer nice!

you can try BUZYBUY.com - they offer IS and MTN accounts. great service and prices.

and buzybuy, afrihost and axxess dont require a calender months notice, cancel by the 20th or 25th and your done.

Ah...thanks, that's important, I always forget that some of these guys make you cancel over a full month. Anyone know what Telkom's deal is?

As far as your Telkom data account is concerned you can cancel immediately and it's disabled there & then (Feb) but as it's billed one month in advance (Mar) you only get the credit in the following month (Mar is credited on the Apr invoice, no pro-rata for Feb).

Edit: added months to hopefully make things clearer

Good... not in the mood for this crap for another month. I've got a 1.5GB download thats been busy since 3am and it still has 300MB to go.

Give Axxess a try. They have just increased their IPC which should have a positive effect on CT users. You also don't have to worry about giving a calendar months notice as long as you cancel before 25th of month.

Only downside is their shaping policy which is very vague.

I'd be inclined to give them a miss until their (and Afrihosts) current contretemps is resolved. You obviously need to move a lot of data on a monthly basis and have already been frustrated by Telkom in February.

Not even sure what I use in a month... stopped monitoring months ago. It was great to be able to download when you wanted.

Month totals at the top, use the back button at the bottom to step back month by month.

Thanks - its been so long since I logged into my router I had to go look for the password.

It would seem in the 200GBs

EDIT : I don't think those stats are right, I consistently have a 10GB+ upload, and I don't upload jack.

sheesh, never heard of buzybuy.com , but their products look damn good. Especially windows hosting.

As for uncapped, IS is good. Unplugged, WA etc.

They told me I have to give a months' notice. Incompetent call centre agents.

BUZYBUY.com pricing is very competitve for their 2MB uncapped unthrottled. Anyone care to share their experience with BUZYBUY? Youtube, streaming, HTTP downloads, NNTP, Torrents etc...

I would really appreciate it, the clocks ticking I have 2 days to make a choice before my internet light is turned off

Note that it's only the TI Do Uncapped line entry on your invoice that can be cancelled immediately and it's instantaneous, they say it's cancelled and your account stops working there and then. You cannot schedule a cancellation for a specific date, 28th Feb for example, so make sure you've activated a data account with another ISP if you want unbroken internet access.

For best results cancel at a Telkom Direct shop and take your last invoice with including the page with the itemised billing.

That is all that I want to cancel. I wish I knew this the weekend. I'm already with a different ISP.
