nobody here have uncapped or fakeuncapped ?

just for internist sake - what usage do you get out of it end of month, obviously based on the amount of *stuff* you acquired... hehe

managed to pull for Sept 95,416.58 MB. - 512k FakeUncapped
...

btw orin76, how would you rate the 384k one ?

My 384 uncapped was great up until about 2 months ago. Since then torrent downloads have been mostly slow (< 10kB/s) even after hours. When I switch to a SAIX account, I get over 20kB/s consistently. Websurfing has also been a problem with some sites not connecting first time and needing to be refreshed. HTTP file downloads and newsgroup downloads have been OK.

Overall, I don't think it's worth the R999/month that I'm paying. I'll be moving back to SAIX full time from next month.

Edit: I haven't really noticed a big difference in speeds at the end of a month.

dungeons and dragons updater

IS uncapped: yields 8-15KBps and sometimes round 20KBps
Siax unshaped: maxout line speed

which tells me that once again something there was shaped and limited.
...

Hmmm, what I would like to know is:

Is there any difference in the speed between an uncapped 512k and 1meg Internet solutions account? I know the potential is there for a 1meg to be better, but in reaility, is it? For example, if you get 8 to 12K consistently from your 512k, will you get 16 to 30k from a 1 meg. I expect international with IS to be pretty terrible, but is the local better?

My agenda really is to determine if people are wasting their money with the "high" end accounts, and to conclude that you may as well stick with a 512 or even 384?

You can conclude that quite simply. Read the posts on newshost, read the tons of IS news server threads here,

Content which gets downloaded to the IS news server gets "cached" or saved on it, thereby, if someone else downloads it, it's faster to download, normally close to full speed.

Unfortunately, I don't want what they have, so I don't use it, plain and simple ;)

Alternatives? Get Pshyces! :p ;) :D

183961.05 MB so far according to the isdsl site. Havent really noticed any speed differences yet, been waiting since the stuff was reported and no thresholding for me yet.

I have a 1meg line btw, and do 90% of my traffic on http and ftp.

Also its a mix of up and down, depending what I need to do for clients in a month

I'm currently at 520.5GB down and 34.4GB up for the month :D
