Hi,

Thinking about getting an uncapped account, anyone know which is the best one to use for torrents and Newsgroups?

Well there are 3 price ranges when it comes to Uncapped:
1) R500 range - MWEB, Axxess Shaped, @Lantic + more - These will give you slowish speeds during the day but good(often full) speeds at night.
2) R1 000 range - Axxess, Imagine + more - Throttled during day and FULL SPEED at night.
3) R2 000 - R3 000 range - DC, MWEB Business, Openweb + more - 24/7 Full Speed Un-shaped.

Number 2 IMO is the worst of the 3... Number 1 being the best unless you can afford R2-3k a month.

Why is number 2 the worst?

I don't get that statement, if I'm not mistaken if you fully utilize the line you get the cheapest per GB price with option 2 so how is it the worst option??

+1 - was on axxess uncapped express and dloaded 800 odd gigs per month easy

No 2 is the best. It runs FULL speed at night. I was on openweb 4mbtt uncapped and it runs 4mbt. 20+gb per night. I'm on the mweb 4mbt now and I am yet to see any traffic faster than 40kb/s which is just about 384.

No, number 2 is actually the best. Great price and can do almost a Terabyte per month.

Is this true for all Mweb 4mbps uncapped users out there?

No. From day one i have had awesome speeds day and night. I keep my downloading to after hours anyway since i am at work all day and i have never seen it drop below 400kB. During the day for browsing its actually faster than my saix acc was (Youtube used to stutter on saix, on Mweb it flies)

It all depends on how much you intend to download. If you're going to stay below 100GB, then the first option would also give you full speed in the evening with HTTP downloads.
