Can someone PLEASE tell me which is the BEST isp for uncapped, unshaped ADSL/ wireless for my home and business. Each quote i get misleads me more. I'm no techie but I need to d/l about 20Gigs a month and I know that if its shaped it wont work. Thnas guys..

There is no true "uncapped", the best you will do is a 30Gb cap. The other big question is: Are you downloading local or international? Do you need a low latency connection, ie are you gaming or using it for VoIP?

If it's international low latency and no shaping, you're looking at thousands of Rand and will need to use a SAIX provider.

If you don't need low latency then IS "uncapped" is cheaper, but still expensive R1700 ~ R2700 not sure about shaping (check the IS site)

If it's local you can use one of the IS reseller products, with mixed local/international caps, these would be the cheapest but there's a low international cap and international latency is very high.

Imaginet are offering "uncapped/unshaped accounts" but using 20GB will costs you approx R2370-00pm

All the other uncapped offerings I know of are shaped

DP Unshaped Usage-based ADSL (PLATINUM)

You decide the cap – depending on your requirements.

We will then place a soft cap on your account – making sure you don’t get any nasty surprises at the end of the month but still giving you access for email.

You will have unrestricted access to the internet, allowing you to access and download any content - including content using peer2peer applications.

R400 for 3GB & R 150 per GB thereafter

IS and its re-sellers DataPro, MWEB etc. do sell a trully uncapped product. R1350 for 512Kbps & R2700 for 1Mbps ex. VAT
