Uncapped

I am looking at getting uncapped. I am still a 192k user with openweb, but I want more. What are the choices, preferably something cheap, doesn't have to be really fast, even 384 is fine or best if cheap. Any opinions?

And is it possible to have 2 computers going through one router? What is the chances of someone getting your username and password, because I lan often and this seems to be happening pretty often.

2 pc's through one router is possible and safer if the right precautions are taken. The problem is that people leave there routers on the default settings. This includes the username and password. Making it possible for anyone to login into the router and steal the password. So you have to change the router password and also disable the feature that makes the router accessable from the interent. If this is done no-one can just steal ure adsl username and password.

Hmmm brilliant. And also is it not better to go for a big cap than go uncapped with a slower line?

Yes, just configure your router so only your 2 pc's are allowed via each computer's MAC address.

Nah, usually the 30GB or equal or more than the uncapped prices.\

Um i have a cheap rubbish telkom modem, and am a bit of a n00b. How do you do that?

You need to open internet explorer ( even a noob can do that ) and then type "//" followed by the IP address of your router into the "address" bar. You can find the ip address by reading the manual but it is usually 192.168.1.1

Once u've done that successfuly a page will be displayed which will allow you to configure the router.

Play around until you find were it limits pc's according to their mac address.(I'm not sure how to check ur mac address thought)

You can find your PCs MAC address by opening a command prompt and typing ipconfig /all (assuming you have Windows XP). The physical address is the mac-address.

You should do this for each PC.

Also, if you have more than one network adapter, (such as a WiFi card and Ethernet), then you'll see more than one physical address. Use the one you actually use to connect to the router - or just use both.
