I happen to find few stones in my late grandpa basket, The stone look shiny and did little bit of google search but still can't find accurate classification of these stones, For some reason I thought they were rough diamonds or gem stones.
Any mining engineer in the forum to assist?

Thank you :) WP_20151224_19_26_34_Pro.jpg WP_20151224_19_26_27_Pro.jpg

It does look like quartz, but there are definately other things trapped within. Take it to a nearby university geology dept. ask them to sample it (email first :p ) :)

There seems to be fools gold on the surface around that dark area. I have a few pure white chunks of these crystals. They do cut glass BTW.

Edit: Google said it is Quartz pyrite.
