Undecided between Sony Ericsson Xperia Android's

WOW, the Arc looks great. Got an HTC Desire HD...very happy with it me thinks I will be returning to Sony Ericsson for my next upgrade

Me to ;) my order for the SE Arc already in, its not the best Android on the market, but it is the best looking and I miss the SE brand so why not.. :)

I have the SE X10i upgraded to GB 2.3 and like the larger form factor. I would reccomend the X8 as I have large fingers and tend to battle with hardware kayboards and use the larger onscreen keyboard in portrait mode more often. I think the X10 mini Pro has built in ANT compatibility so if that is what you need it might help decide. Do a comparison on GSMARENA.COM and see the differences (Might not have all the updated specs listed as differences).

The X10 mini pro has a hardware keyboard. So while the X8 might be bigger, the hardware looks pretty much the same otherwise, and the x10 mini pro should be easier to type on.

Correction on my above post, both the X8 and X10 mini pro have ANT+ support after the upgrade to 2.1. The specs are almost identical (2.55 vs 3.0 inch screen) so it will come down to the hardware keyboard.

Sorry, but I wouldn't touch either of those phones.

My sister has the X10 & updated it to Gingerbread the other day....and now the poor phone is stuttering! Definitely not smooth at all.

Why SE choose to put only 384MB RAM in a flagship device, while all the other manufacturers are using 512MB RAM or more, is simply beyond me.

@kingrob, I found after the upgrade my X10 was having some initial issues but after 2 days and two clean shutdowns and restarts the phone is now very good. I know the experience has been different for a number of different users but I would still recomend the phone. I use the phone quite heavily and run a number of large apps (Plants VS Zombies, Touchdown mail) and with the 2.3 app2sd support have not had a problem with memory. I do have a class 4 SD card which seems to have helped.

Only this thread isn't about flagship phones at all, it's about the X10 mini pro, which is vastly different from the actual X10. The mini's only have 128MB RAM, not 384.

Also, "all the others" didn't. Basically only htc and Samsung put in more RAM than the X10. The Motorola Milestone which launched at the same time as the X10 only had 256MB for example.

Thank you for this! :)

I'll tell my sister she must have some patience, it will get better!

Apologies, point taken.

I see the X10 mini as a "party phone", you leave the X10 at home and take the mini with you if there is an urgent phone call that you just have to take. I would not use it as my main phone.

Seriously, the display is just not big enough to do anything sensible on it, unless you get a magnifying glass with the phone for free.

I see SE are making smaller Android phones which I'm happy about. One of my favourite phones of all time was the HTC Touch Diamond, if a manufacturer can make a phone that size with a 1Ghz processor, Android and the HD bits I'd definitely go for it!

Go with the Neo instead if you can. Would be slightly more.

Out of those 2 phones I'll take the X8 just for the screen size and resolution being just that much bigger. It does make a difference. X10 mini phones are TINY IRL. Not worth it imo.

Currently have the W995 & BB 8520 Curve as main Communication Phone, main phone due for upgrade next year .. Hopefully some nice Androids then :D

Using it as my second "party" phone as "kingrob" put it, basic Phone usage, play etc.
Use it for some quick snaps video etc. which sways me more in favor of the 5 MP / 30 fps X10 min Pro
With they keypad slide, small screen size should be ok for sending a message every now and then.

SONY ERICSSON XPERIA X10 MINI PRO vs SONY ERICSSON XPERIA X8

Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 vs. Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo - GSMArena.com

Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc vs. Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo - GSMArena.com

Would love the ARC, but a bit out of budget.

Budget +-R200 max

Neo, also a good option depending on price.

Thank You for all the replies so far.

Of your selections would take the X8 over the X10 mini Pro

You can get the NEO for around R190 from vodacom. Think there is a special on their site atm.

I'm with you on the small screen, but OP says the high end stuff is out of his budget. Don't really know of any newer "cheap" androids...

Thank You All

Seems it is Sony Ericsson Neo > Xperia X8 > Xperia X10 mini Pro

Will check what MTN SP has to offer.
