Underwater Welding

i have also heard something nasty about deep water dives, apparantly you have to have special teeth fillings put in because there are sometimes air pockets under your fillings and these have nasty conseqences when coming back up, like popping out!
 
YEs, it is a cool job, have a look at the dive tables, 3 hours working at a 100m, 6-8 hours busy decompressing, thus 9-11 hours hanging around in the water at various depths, just waiting, or if a decompression chamber is available, 9-11 hours in the chamber, decompressing.

I want to seriously do this job. But from what I could gather last night searching.

1. you need to be a qualified Welder (No idea how long that process takes)
2. Once you are a qualified Welder then you need to do the various diving courses to certify you as an underwater welder. (No idea how long that takes)

So I guess one will need atleast 2 years of training if not more to be qualified for doing this kind of job :(

100m is flippen deep!!!!!
Looking out over the bay from my office window here, I dont think I would want to be 100m under that water at all.
What if everyone on the ship decides to leave and forget about you down there?

What was that movie many years ago about free diving (without tanks), was pretty cool - something you can get addicted to, guy eventually thought he was a fish and decided not to surface.
Think about that, what if you suddenly think you're a fish?

My cousins done this type of work and diamond diving etc / salvage amongst other things , but he's now studying to be a yacht technician and a diesel mechanic as its not as fun being in the water all the time as you would think - rough and dangerous work.
