Good day Broad banders...

Please help me out with some advice... I have been working for a company for a year and 4 months now. I work through a labour broker. In February of 2014 the transport manager was sent to richardsbay to work there for an x amount of time. I was at the time working on the outside on the construction side of the business. I was called in and asked if I would like to take over the position while he is away. I was told in the "interview" that my rate will increase and I will get the promotion while im standing in for him. Till now the only that happened was my rate increase. He was due back last year june, but is now only coming back this year june/july. The guy whom I took over from is earning 4 times my salary. When I ask about the promotion... I get shut down. When I asked them for an increase I got shut down.

Is there any legal laws or anything that would help me to get the promotion and get permanently employed? I need some ammunition to use against them.

My damn problem is nothing was documented what was said in the "interview"!!!!!!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Stop doing the extra work and go back to the work they contrated you to do. They will soon be available for discussion !

It is unfair...but you're a contractor so it doesn't count since you don't technically count as human being to that company (odds are you don't count as a human being to your labour broker either but that's a different discussion).

Unless your broker is willing to negotiate on your behalf, you're going to have to leave that job if it's untenable working there OR get used to doing the extra work for the inadequate bump in pay OR go back to working according to the conditions of your contract. In either event, there is going to be friction along the way...chat to your leech \ pimp urgently and explain your feelings.

Appreciate the responses..

I have spoken to the labour broker about it, they couldn't give a damn about the people that work for them.

The management here don't either, so I have handed in my resignation.. Im not gonna get the recognition I deserve so time to bail. No point hanging around wasting my time here.

Yep. Long as you did not resign because of anger. It's true we sometimes have to make hard decisions but it will be for our own good. All the best as you move forward
