my line is always disconnecting they tested my adsl line and its fine, or so i think they tested the line, more than likely just keeping me on the phone to rape more cash out of me on the 99c premium line, , time to change ISP immediately, not worth 1499 a month plus the telkom bill 500 odd to be disconnecting constantly:mad::mad::mad:, anyone suggest a stable ISP?

and dont post how fantastic Axxess works for you coz its not working myside.

id rather have bad support and a good stable connection than fantastic support with no connection

and yet agin its disconnected!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What disconnects, the line or the internet service? What does your router log say?

Sounds like your line to me which means it's going to happen with any isp.
Get your dsl provider to have your line moved to a different port on the dslam for starters. Has worked for me before.

I see 3 things that can be the problem:
1) Your ADSL line (Call Telkom or the ISP if you get the line from them)
2) Port on your DSLAM (Call Telkom or the ISP if you get the line from them)
3) Your router is porked (Get a new one)

Don't see how you can bitch about the ISP

my line has been tested, nothing wrong with it,( i did say that above, must of been in invisible ink), and i pay 1500 a month to have no connection which was fine with my previous ISP

If you want to check if its your ISP, a cheap option would be to get prepaid bandwidth from Web Africa (whom I'll always suggest) @ R70 per gig. If it works for you and it's stable then you can always upgrade to a different service.

Their internet access packages also gives you a choice to which backbone you want to connect to without you having to buy extra accounts by simply changing your username you can choose between SAIX and Verizon.

Plus their prepaid bandwidth rolls over so if you don't use everything right now you can always use it when your normal account runs out and you need access.

Look, it's probably IS's fault but you I see where you are coming from - You interface with Axxess, they deal with IS and sort out problems like that. So while the technical fault is most likely out of thier direct control, they should have the power to phone up IS and sort things out.

I feel your pain, that's a lot of money to be paying for such hassles.

Frankly though, most ISP's that resell IS don't do much to help thier customers in cases like this (well from what I can recall at least anyway) so you would most likely be having similar problems even if you were with any one of several ISP's ;)

Thanks for your replys, i will see if i can find a working alternative

It's not an IS problem I checked before giving him alternatives

This whole "We just resell it's out of our control" crap is wearing a bit thin. Nobody wants to take responsibility but they have no problem taking your money? Fun times we live in hey..

Yo Ripped off, did you get sorted out by axxess, I know they were having a similar problem with a mate of mine...

I had the same problem where my internet was disconnecting(+-1150 dc's in a month) frequently and I phoned telkom, they tested the line, and they said that it was fine. They also dropped my speed to 2mb's.

This how ever did nothing to help me. My internet still dc'd. Then I phoned telkom and got a technitian out and he fixed it in about 10mins.

So just be sure that it is your ISP not telkom. Cause the call center lies to you quite alot.

Get telkom to replace the plug on your wall inside your house. I had the same problem and after months I managed to get the Telkom techie to come change the plug, problem went away after that.

I think the best a approach would be to find out exactly what is the problem. According to the original post it looks like a Telkom problem. If you phone Telkom they almost always say the line is fine until you can prove to them something is wrong.

+1 on that.

I doubt the problem is at Axxess or IS (and not because I'm a fan.... I'm not). Do yourself a favour... Ask Telkom to reset your DSLAM.
