Hi, ok I'm no genius when it comes to this stuff so need some help please. I had a single view decoder with the 60cm dish and recently upgraded to the DSTV Explora 2 of which I had to buy the SLNB all far and well. All I did was change the LNB and now have to register the blasted Explora, it gets to the step 3 which is signal and wham no signal. I have the satfinder app etc. and with a lot of swarring and cuss words I lost it and gave up. I know you supposed to get a accredited installer to do the installation and I have a nephew that s one even with him on the phone I still couldn't get it right. Please any advise for the blonde that is at least a little technically minded would be great.. Or will i have to now buy the 80cm dish as well.

Unicable Smart LNB no signal

The SLNB ideally requires a digital signal finder to get it properly aligned..
I tried installing mine with analogue signal finder and all the apps and forum guidance etc and eventually had an installer come out with his digital signal finder..
I was extremely close, installer was in and out in 5 minutes and that was the most expensive 5 minutes of my life..

I have it on the unicable/SatCR on the screen etc, but still does not pick up a signal.
that is the thing, I know I near as dammit in line, and my blasted nephew is on holiday and took his signal finder with him or I would have done it already. leaves everything else but that. So I guess I will need to cough up more money again. eish dagnabbit

Seriously though, something a lot of people tend to forget is the orientation of the LNB and the length the LNB is sticking out in front (to the dish's side) of the bracket. I also did the upgrade myself a few years back and that was the main issues I encountered.
I ended up installing the old unit (used the sun damage mark to install it as it was) again, then I held the SmartLNB over the old one, marked the length it must be mounted at. As for the rotation, I seem to recall degree marks on both units.
I then ran through the setup, I had some issues on the HD Channels, so I had to rotate it a degree or two, until I got a stable signal and it never gave issues again.
LOL, kids but all grown up.. I live for TV now... haha...
Ok so if I start the process again, with the old decoder and settings etc. MAYBE, just maybe I can overcome this installation issue.. I guess I do sort of have the whole weekend to do it.. HAHA I just know I am going to lose it with the thing and may just use it as a pretty dust bunny in the room.. HEHE

I have a kid now, and it took a few seconds more than 5 minutes
..I was not lucky enough to have a point of reference for my install, else it would have been a different story..
Had to do it all from putting the dish together, mounting the pole and mounting the dish on the pole..

LOL, so the the mounting of the Dish and pole worked I take it... HAHAHAHAHA

You can go to http://www.dishpointer.com/ and enter your precise location for more accurate results, but it should not differ (if any) from those from the the center of Strubenvale which I used. Just remember select the correct satellite (68.5E INTELSAT 20 (IS-20) | INTELSAT 36 (IS-36) ) from the drop-down list on the right hand side.

Can anybody please help. Ive installed the smart lnb, my explora 2 is working just fine, but extra view pvr gets no signal. I have the cable running from the dish with 2 way splitter box to split it for sat 1 & sat 2 on pvr. Is it incorrect or do I have to change any settings on decoder?

Make sure you are using the universal port on the lnb for the extra view Pvr..
