Hi Everyone

I have a Galaxy S and Im running Darky Rom 10.2.2 on it.

I am with Autopage

I have looked at my data bill, and it seems that I have a number of similar sized downloads at short intervals that I dont recall and that doesnt make sense...

They are all 5117 - 5121Kb in size. The most I have had was 9 in a row, sometimes like 1 or 2 minutes apart!!!

Sometimes in the middle of the night?
Surely this must be something thats trying to update?
But there is never anything new or update notifications on the phone.

I have "background data" enabled, mostly because of Whatsapp, but none of my apps have an "auto update" enabled...

I have checked now and Whatsapp still works with "background data" turned off?

What is the background data button for then? Emails and stuff? I dont check emails on my phone, I have a web based email that I check through Opera, when needed.

The only time I get update notifications is when I open the market or when I go look for app updates

So has anyone else had this problem?

5Mb at a time adds up eventually...

:wtf:

Hi Bus

As far as I know, (this on Vodacom) the network bills in 5MB packets, so in a download of 20MB, it would appear on your billing as 4 x 5MB session's.

So its not necessarily your background data, but when your surfing or downloading an app?

Maybe VodacomData on the forums can give a more detailed answer?

Edit: Whatsapp doesnt work with "background data" off...

Messages only come through when I have the app open.

So I have a very real problem...

I hardly use SMS anymore since Whatsapp came about...
