I got my hands on a unifi AP, it's an old model, shows obselete and "Model - UAP" on the management tool. It works with POE injector but if I connect it to my unifi switch 8 150w it doesn't turn on.
What am I doing wrong ?

You need to switch the port to 24v mode (it's risky since it can damage stuff if it doesn't expect 24v) thus requiring the manual change
Let me take a screencap from mine
 
Also if you have issues managing the AP due to age you can use an older version of the management software (pre-sunsetting)
 
I am using java 11 and the unifi app network wont launch. It says it needs java 8.
I just have this one PC, rest 2 are company laptops which have restrictions.
can anyone suggest a workaround for this ? I cant downgrade to java 8 as I use java 11 for Dev work.
