At home I have a Ubiquiti Unifi AC LR AP connected to a EdgerouterX, this setup has been running flawless for about 6 years.

The last few months I noticed that my S22 was disconnecting and reconnecting to the wifi at random times. At first I though it was a phone issue, but it is happening more frequently now (like once an hour) and other phones/devices on the wifi is experiencing similar issues (Iphone, ipad, etc). Devices connected to the lan with cables are unaffected and running rock solid during these wifi disconnects.

Ive update the AP firmware, checked the settings, etc, but issue persists.

Any ideas?

I am at the point of throwing this one out and buying a new one, but worried it is not related to the AP hardware specifically.

What settings are active on your install? there could be something in the 5ghz setting etc

It wont be a compatibility issue, and unlikely the AP has degraded as they typically work until they dont.

You can get a lot of insight from the controller and if you have issues you can read this https://help.ui.com/hc/en-us/articles/221029967

All it says is update to the latest and reset everything to default. Whats amazing is that typically works. Settings change over time, different firmwares, people make adjustments. For most issues upgrade and reset.

If that doesnt work, maybe check the AP cable and injector are still ok.

How would one check of the poe injector is still working 100% ok?

1 you upgraded and reset to default
2 run a flylead from the injector to the AP
3 check the injector - well you cant as the voltage is fine from a voltmeter - add amps and its not - the CCA or badly installed UTP - revert to 2 use a flylead

what I am saying is AP typically works or not - cable can give hassles - injector like the AP you can replace but again it normally works or doesnt

weak point is your setup or the bad cable / badly installed cable - that can degrade

loads of insight from the controller if you look

My Unifi NanoHD has a similar issue, all devices connected cant get an IP via DHCP, if i unplug the lan cable going to the router (not the POE injector cable) and plug it back in the device behaves again. This happens about once every month.

I have the same issue with my Unifi access points. Multiple of them has done the same. Kind of annoying

sometimes a device wont connect to a ssid from a unify device.

if you delete the network and recreate it the device then connects, or if you just create another wifi network on the same system the device will connect to it..

so weird

I've reduced the transmit power on 2.4ghz to medium, and it seems to be stable now. Not sure if this is only temp. fix or permanent, however. Or why it seems to work.

Interesting. My wife's dell laptop is fairly flaky with the unifi lite APs.
My work dell laptop is rock solid. Never has an issue. My gaming PC is also extremely stable with it.

I do have a ZTE wifi6 AP/router floating around, going to connect her laptop to it, see if it's any better.

After enabling 5Ghz wifi, it stopped working again.

I'm thinking of chucking the Unifi AP out and putting a Reyee or 2 in its place. Giving too much hassles.

Will the Reyee APs work ok with a Edgerouter X ?
