What to do?

So if i have a uninet hotspot near my house and i connect to it with my laptop, can they charge me?

I was on Uninet for almost a year. Very unreliable. Was down for 24 hours once because it was weekend and there was no one to come out and check for faults. Never again

Well I've heard from people that Uninet is one of the best out the the small WISP bunch.

And I doubt if you can just connect to their service for free. In fact im sure that would be impossible. You obviously need a user name and password, or the key.

They are still busy working on the infrastructure. At the moment it is free but in the near future it will be 45 minutes free a day, thereafter you need a password to continue.

Anybody using uninet in knysna experiencing slow speeds? I am on a 1mb line but downloading @ 3kB/s

I personally wouldn't recommend these guys...

Reason 1 - very poor service

Reason 2 - my friends dad had everything setup with them, he was with them for 2 years. Last month him and his wife went to the UK for a holiday - while they were away, Uninet decided to disconnect the coverage in his area. No word from Uninet about their sudden change in coverage plans. His business suffered because of it. He's stuck with the equipment he paid for, and its totally useless to him LOL!

Now he's on ADSL :D
