I was just doing some research when I noticed this site:

www.uninet.co.za

Apparently they offer uncapped wifi access for R800 per month. Does anyone know anything about these people? It seems that they've been bickering with Telkom... That's always a good thing in my books.

If anyone has any information, it would be appreciated, they seem like a much better alternative to Telkom, iBurst and Sentech.

I think these are the guys who put wireless hot-spots in restaurants

The restaurants pay the R800, and then the clients, and the restaurant have unlimited access. When you're in the hot spot, all you do is send an sms to a number, and the send you a reply back with a username and password

Hello there Alchemist,
I think you are talking about these guys Alwayson

https://hotspot.alwayson.co.za/

I was with them for a few years!

They are only based in Cape Town though....they werent too bad but they shape their traffic to s*it....

They're in Joburg too... a restaurant down the road from me has it

Well, for R800 a month, in comparison to effin' Sentech and iBurst, these people have my vote hands-down. It being uncapped just makes it all the better.

**spits on Telkom, iBurst, Sentech, etc**

erm, if all you can get from them is 3k/s on a 256k "broadband" connection, then id' say its pretty well shaped to **** as well.... vote for them if you like, but i'm about to dump their crap. i've been really patient with them for a long time, but for months now my 256k connection has been no better than a dialup. and yes, they're shaped to **** too....

I have been with them for about 7 months now, and cannot really complain. (Well as you can see from my sig, I am ex "My Useless" enough said). Now on the 512 (R800 Pack)

It all depends on your poison. (Torrents, Gaming, voip, browing etc). It is balanced, it does irritate you sometimes when it looses signal but the uncapped makes up for it. Never off for long, scheduled maintenance normally gets sms'ed to you.

I would suggest trying them out from the bottom (128K) and upgrading if you are happy.
