What's the equivalent of uninstall on the Mac?

Do you just delete the icon inside the folder? I've done that and it does not even ask for a confirmation.

How can you be sure all the files are gone for good and not lurking in a bin somewhere?

When you deleted the application, it probably moved it into your trash. There should be a icon in your dock for it.

Use AppDelete (free ware). You drag the icon onto the appdelete icon and it removes all associated files as well and places them in your trash.

Apart from a few preference files generally when you delete the app (which is actually just a folder in disguise) you delete everything. The preference files usually don't take up enough space to be worth worrying about.

Using a uninstaller wont hurt but its nowhere near as important as say on windows pc.
