Hi all

After a very long break, I am continuing with my BCom Informatics degree with UNISA.
I'm still on first year.
Anyway, I am taking the following modules next semester:
ECS1601
FAC1502
MNB1501

Thing is, I have no idea how to tackle these commerce subjects but I need to pass them. When I last studied, I barely scraped through Economics 1 with a 60% pass.

I've been working in IT since I matriculated and I have no experience in commerce at all.
  • Does anyone have any advice on how to approach these subjects?
  • How did some of you fair with these subjects?
  • What are some of the proven methods with correspondence studies for subjects like these?

Any help would be great!

Yes, I realize that I can do a B.Sc Informatics degree instead and avoid all these commerce subjects but I don't meet the mathematics requirement.

MNB1501 is basic AF.

FAC1502 i struggled with slightly in the begninning because I never had accounting at school, ended up getting 80 something, if you struggle go do a few classes.

and FYI if you did informatics you would be doing most of these subjects.

FAC1502 and MNB1501 are part of the BSc Informatics degree too. So either way you would need to do them. I have completed the BSc Informatics degree, MNB1501 is not hard at all, basic business management, and FAC1502 is a level above matric accounting.
Sign up for this online coures, its the FAC1502 module done by a UNISA lecturer. http://www.tabaldi.org/courses/46-fac1502.html
I used it and FAC1502 was a breeze.

I have a BCom Informatics degree (not from UNISA though).

If you are struggling/think you will struggle with these subjects then Informatics might not be the right degree for you. A lot of the course work is commerce related, as in the work environment you will be required to use a lot of the commerce knowledge. The commerce subjects are not that difficult. Understand the concepts they are trying to get across and you will be fine.

Thanks for the advice.
I think I'll probably end up doing a class or 2 for FAC1502.

Regarding ECS1601, any thoughts?
I believe that's Economics 2, I did Economics when I last studied and I scraped through.
