I've been struggling to get hold of anyone at Unisa and now Broadband is last resort.

I am busy with my BA criminology degree which is being phased out 2017. I didn't register last year for personal reasons but want to continue this year.

What I want to know is if the degree is being phased out in 2017, does that mean that I have to complete it before 2017 or will I still be able to complete it in 2017.

If it's the latter, then I will be able to complete. If anyone here knows please help me out. Thanks:)

When they phase something out it means no new people can sign up. It doesn't affect people that already signed up. Although they usually put a limit on when you have to finish it. Something like 4-6years. But that should be on the site.

I had a similar situation with my degree at Tuks. I did BIT and they decided to change a bunch of the subjects to make it easier, the degree also went from 4 years down to 3 years. Anyway, long story short, if you are enrolled for a degree that is being phased out then you will have a buffer period in which you have to complete the degree. Example: You enroll for a 3 year degree in 2015 and they decide to change or phase out the degree in 2016. Usually you will then be granted the duration of the degree ( 3 years ) from the initial decision (2016). This means you have to complete it by 2019.

In my case when they state "phasing out" it means that you can no longer register for the degree as a first year but you should still be allowed to complete it if you finished your first year already.

Hope this helps.
