Hi Guys

I just put in DSTV. have the decoder installed upstairs and the 2nd point downstairs. So i need a remote to change the channels from the lounge downstairs as the decoder is upstairs in my main bedroom. i did it cause i did not want to much wires around. Is there a remote i can buy for a cheap price to change the channels for the lounge downstairs. i went to makro, but they only have some blaster device that costs R400 that has 2 ugly looking devices in it.

Where in cape town can i get a remote or any device that is really affordable and works very simple.

Thanks guys

If you are looking for a universal remote, the only one worth getting is a Logitech. I have the Harmony One and don't know how I could have lived without it.
It is expensive though - I paid just over R1500.
Main benefits:
1. Set it up by connecting to your PC via USB - Logitech have a database of almost every single device you can think off - airconditioners and light switches too.
2. You can have ONE BUTTON macros - this means you press one button (say WATCH DVD), it switches the TV on to your DVD input channel, switches on your home theatre to DVD input, switches everything else off, dims the lights and switches on the airconditioner.

If only it could bring my drink from the fridge to the couch...

Hi mohammedm
Where did you buy the Harmony One for that cheap price? I'm also looking for one, but best price currently is R2000.

I just ordered a harmony 300 from zapsonline for R316. From what I can tell it can controll the same devices the other more expensive harmony remotes can. It just doesn't have a LCD display, backlight and limited to 4 devices, but that is all I need. Spending well over a thousand rand just for a remote is a bit ridiculous IMO. Even R300 is a bit steep just for a remote, but compared to the other cheaper URCs out there I think this one is worth the price.
