I'm trying to install XP on my Vista laptop. It used 70% of my RAM on idle so I need XP on it rather.

When I tried installing, when it got to the hard drive part, it said "Unknown Device". WTF? Its supposed to say C and D. Installing windows or deleting partition on the "Unknown Device" causes a blue screen of death.
Wussup? I really need XP installed!
It's a Fujitsu Siemans incase you need to know

Vista memory usage is more like cache and not the same as XP.
Though it says 70% used, it is only using your system memory more efficiently. I see no reason for that to be a deciding factor in downgrading your OS and RAM is quite cheap these days.

Vista is trying its darndest to pre-emptively populate every byte of system memory with what it thinks I might need next. It's running a low-priority background task that harvests previously accessed data from the disk and plops it into unused system memory. They even have a fancy marketing name for it-- SuperFetch:

In other words look at it as a good thing, Vista is doing its job better than XP ever could.

Fujitsu is very sticky when XP is being installed...
You will need to slipstream the Disk drivers into the installation using something like NLIte.

Or contact Fujitsu support or google your problem...

U will need to get the the driver from Fujitsu's website and slipstream it with Nlite and your Windows XP disc, then just do the same process again and will detect your HDD,

HDD driver will be something like ICH6,7,8 just check the website

what driver and how do I slipstream?

@ Drake, the system lags overall, I'd prefer an XP OS. My CPU is a celeron as well
