Sometimes anti-social, always anti-fascist.
I have been an idiot, of this I am aware so please don't rub it in my face.

I bought a motorcycle, the selller didn't have the papers ready and I didn't insist on them before taking the bike.

I have since lost touch with the seller and I want to register the bike in my name... how screwed am I?

Does anyone have experience of trying to register a vehicle under these circumstances?

You'll be able to trace the papers and even have them pulled. But won't be able to register it on your name without the signature of the owner. Get one of these Queue for you guys to find the papers for you and then you can trace the original owner. Without the original owner you're pretty much screwed.

Shot boet. What a knob I have been.

Finding the seller shouldn't be all that hard, as long as he is happy to sign and give you the papers it's not too bad. If he doesn't have the papers, you'll need a copy, and that means you'll need his ID too. Worst case is if he hasn't got the papers because the bank still has it and he owes money on it.

I can PM you a possible solution

edit: without the paperwork I dont think even this will work
