Unlocking iphone 3G 8gb

Hi Guys

So here is the story. I got a iphone 3G 8gb from someone I know. I want to use it as an ipod in the car nothing more noting less. However when pluggin it into itunes it keeps on telling me the sim isn't supported. Phones is useless as its stuck at the emergency dialing screen and the "cable and intunes screen". I know it has 3.1.3 on it but baseband no clue. Also the guy I got it from isnt much help either I think he also got stuck where I am now.

Had it at the istore in 4ways mall but the bloke had such an attitude I just walked off. Is it possible to unlock this?
I dont want to use the phone for any phoning at all.

I will even pay if it is successful if its not a crazy amount. I tried redsn0w / blackra1n but ya not getting anywhere.

I suggest you buy an iPod then. Ipod shuffle?

I unlocked a iPhone3G for a friend a while back - I can't recall the exact software I used but it wasn't much of a hassle to get sorted out.
