Background: I wanted to bridge my Mweb router to work with the Huawei B315 and couldn't do it with the pre-loaded Mweb firmware that was on the router, so a quick search and I found this website: http://devrandom.za.net/blog/2014/02/16/unlocking-a-tg589vn-v3-vdsl-isp-locked-router/

Solution: I followed the steps as suggested in the website and was amazed by the extra features and options available, obviously Mweb did not want the router to be used for any other purpose.

Main screen after flash is similar to this:

Once you go through the connection Wizard you can select routed or bridged:

Once the router is bridged just remember to change the static IP of the TG589VN, as soon as I connected it to the B315 I couldn't access the Technicolor anymore.

As for the performance there was a slight degrade in performance but nothing noticeable, only the speeds were affected yet the pings remained the same.

Wow! I have been struggling with my MWEB router for so long. This has been exactly what I was looking for! Thanks so much!!

Can someone perhaps give me some advice as I'm not a network pro by any means.

I have the MWeb Fon router (Technicolor TG589vn v3) acting as ADSL router with ip 192.168.1.1. It is also set up as DHCP router for addresses up to 192.168.1.100.

Then I have an ethernet cable running to an outbuilding and into a Netgear DGN 2000. The netgear is set up with static IP 192.168.1.100 and is set as DHCP server for addresses from 192.168.1.101 to 254.

All seems to work correctly, so my question is, is there anything wrong with this set up? Should I be using bridge mode on the Mweb router and if so, why? What are the advantages? Or is my current set up OK...

Been fighting with getting the Bridge mode working for hours now...:wtf:

Did you have to fill out any of the bridge settings or just leave it blank? ie. Ethernet Port 4?

Also what did you change the static IP address to?
The Huawei has a DCHP of 192.168.8.100-200.

Do I change the old Mweb router to 192.168.8.<below 100 or above 200> or 198.168.8.<above 100 and below 200>?

Any help is greatly appreciated
