My dad asked the company he works at for a new phone since its malfunctioning and they said they can't and gave him another employee's phone to use. The guy is no longer with the company etc

The phone has a screen lock password, I tried to reset it by using the volume and power buttons but it doesn't restart in recovery mode. Also apparently it will still ask for the previous google account.

Is there some way to remove everything? And start fresh with this phone.

Give it back to the company and tell them to resolve it. Dont do anything with it.

If he needs a company phone and that one doesnt work then they may be forced to get him one that works. As simple as that.

Some companies have security lock on the phones, not just the password for keeping information confidential.

Its their problem to resolve it.

Volume up + power button [held in until the boot menu appears] when the phone is off to start it up should start it in boot mode, one of the options should be factory reset/wipe data if it isn't there it's probably a company security policy for the phone disabling it. I have done this plenty of times on my old Samsung phones so can confirm it works but havnt used Samsung for at least 3 years so newer phones may have changed this option.

Thats the thing, i have been doing the same combination but it just starts as normal, no boot/recover mode.

Exactly, i can't believe how cheap/shitty this company is.

A company-issued Samsung phone might not reset via recovery mode due to enterprise-level security settings or device management policies. Here's why:

🔐 Common Reasons Recovery Mode Fails on Company Devices

  • MDM (Mobile Device Management) Restrictions: Many businesses use MDM software to lock down devices. This can disable recovery mode access or block factory resets to protect company data.
  • Knox Security: Samsung’s Knox platform allows IT admins to enforce strict controls, including disabling recovery mode or requiring credentials to reset the device.
  • Google Account Lock (FRP): If the phone was previously linked to a Google account, Factory Reset Protection (FRP) may prevent a reset without the original credentials.
  • Changed Recovery Access Method: On newer Samsung models (Android 11 and up), the recovery mode button combo may have changed. For example, you might need to connect the phone to a PC or use USB-C headphones while pressing Volume Up + Power.
  • Boot Sequence Overrides: Some company phones are configured to bypass recovery mode entirely or boot into a restricted mode that blocks reset options.

Last time we did a reset using recovery for the wife's aunt we ended up taking it to Vodacrap and they used software on their side to reset it completely.

Giving more detail about the model would help but if it's even remotely new you're not going to get around it.
This is not for you to resolve and doing so will most likely result in repercussions for tampering.

if the developer options are on and USB debugging , you can root the phone , but people never switch those on.

Like other people said , it is not your dad's property , so not his problem

So yes this situation is weird. The company refuses to get him a new phone. They aren't doing that bad but they are retrenching staff at times.

They gave him a Samsung S23 (not bad) but it was just password locked. The HR etc told him that if he can unlock it then it's his phone even if he leaves/retires as it's his cost to unlock the device.

Anyway, he managed to get it unlocked. Good phone.

That's what I thought as well, I have no idea how the local Pakistani guy got it done but hey not bad for R200

yeah - those Pakistani guys can unlock anything - which is bad for guys whose phones get stolen BUT in cases like this it can work out to your advantage as your dad found out

Those software they use, is looking shady AF. You even get like USB-flash drive devices that can do FRP unlocks in a few seconds...

Anyway, glad that it was sorted out.
