QUESTION : how much does it cost to fix (repair/replace) an uno 1998 gearbox ? i have no freaking idea and i cant sleep coz of it LOL

Answer: NEEDED plox !

Rather buy a whole working unit, than trying to fix the current dead one. Just easier to replace.

its a 1.1 . this thread is still alive , recently the reverse gear was giving me a scratching noise so i change back to N without putting it into R completely. so i try again and it goes to R easy . what could be the problem ? cable feels fine , i can reach 100-120 without stressing the engine tooo much. All other gears work fine. the car has been handled gently furthermore.

Could be your clutch as well. AFAIK reverse has no syncro on it (could be wrong), but if it has, then that could be acting up, don't worry until you can't select reverse at all, then worry. Many older vehicles have that reverse problem, by placing into N, releasing the clutch, and then re-engaging R the gears get a chance to re-align, which solves the problem.
