So having set up my Microservers to all speak to each other and share all my content across the house I'm looking to add Netflix, Hulu etc for some added content.

So I've been looking into the whole thing but aside from getting the credit card and addresses etc I'm confused as to whether I should go with UnoDNS or a VPN service which most people claim make it too slow to use.

Has anyone used UnoDNS?
Was it successful?

Any feedback would be great.

I see there are other DNS services as well(OverPlay SmartDNS and Unblock us) so has anyone used a DNS service and a VPN service and which was better?

I didn't realise you could use a DNS service for getting around ip restrictions. I did some searching and found http://proxydns.co/ which is free. Gave it a go on hulu.com and it worked perfectly (got around the geographical block and streamed smoothly). And being a DNS, it can be easily added to any device.

Not sure about those other paid services, but I guess there's no harm in trying out proxydns since its free :)

Thanks thats great news, I'll try the free version first, the ones I mentioned have free trails so it should be easy to see if they are worth paying for.

The only issue might be with the security when going through an unknown DNS.

Hi Beachless,

This is Nick from UnoDNS. I completely understand your concern about going through an unknown DNS especially if the service is free.

You can speculate about the reasons why a company might offer a service and potential security loopholes on such services (data-mining anyone?).

Anyway, we have over 50 servers running across the world so we understand what is involved in building a secure, scalable, and reliable network.

I cant seem to get any of the smart DNS services to work. I think it has something to do with South Africa's internet going through a proxy.
