Unofficial World or Warcraft servers

Jeez, you guys have a problem. I have been playing World of Warcraft for 3 months now on Silvermoon, I never get more than 1000ms. (IronForge is may spike higher but that is understandable)

I usually play with about 700ms - 800ms. That is perfect in my opinion

Well with me selling the official wow for a long time now, I honestly don't think Blizzard gives a rats-arse that they running in SA.

Me personally think blizzard are actually helping the emu's as 90% of the people that have come to me are from the emu's. They just tired of things not working, the crashes etc (hang around in the irc channel and see what I mean)

Blizzard is secretly funding the emu's as a marketing scheme ;)

Hmm, although everyone knows about this, it's interesting to note there is an ad in the latest NAG advertising that WoW is coming to SA.

wow is coming to sa but they when playing they will most probably give you the fastest uk/usa server, so you will be able to buy everything here easily but playing the game will be another mission

You can play wow on iburst i have only tried to USA and as long as you have a really good signal and low error rate you can play but there is still wireless lag. You end up with international lag, wireless lag and blizzard lag so not really fast(unless you lucky)

I wouldnt be so sure Wolfling, i know of 2 illegal servers in S.A that were shut down by blizzard when they found out a couple of months ago

Interesting, I never heard anything in regards to this...

And what are blizzard getting, money? No, all the emus are free (except for w@d) and once the emus get it right, blizzard will lose a lot of customers!!!

Thats the worst theory ive heard ever!! Thats like paying someone to make something that will lose you customers.

I've also never heard of this, unless they opperated quite a while ago, i would of known about this. There is the netnamix and the blackstorm servers as far as i know

-But, as it stands the emus are no where near the real game, this is because they have to build thier own server from scrap, and the emu teams dont collaborate and end up flaming each other. Its really quite sad, 2 days ago two emu teams stopped developement on thier servers (Wowemu and WDDG) ,one new one that sounded very promising was being developed by WDDG called ludmilla, was stopped because the creators got upset ubout someone that leaked thier emu. The other team has been creating emus since Wow client 1.2 (I think) and now they just stop out of nowhere. This realy p1ssed me of because with my cr@py internet its the only option i got.

I don't know what the big fuss is about?

I play with a 600 ping to the Dentarg realm in the UK without ANY problem on a normal (shaped) SAIX account.

Shame, shame, shame. ISDN gives pings of about 300 and is way better than DSL at the moment.

EMU servers are not worth it... It ruins the experience, in my opinion.

What's the point of playing a game where the crux of it lays in the fact that there should be hundreds, if not thousands of players on the server?

Playing wow for 8 months on legit servers. Played on US and now playing on EU because of the time zones. Pay +/- R250 odd for 3 months. Well worth it. Compare that to DSTV which costs over R400 per month and all the rubbish thats on. Much better entertainment value. New content added on regular basis. High population. Lots of friends on same server. You're wasting your bandwidth playing on a EMU server.

Wonder what the auction house is like on an EMU server. 5 pages ???. How often can you do 40 man raids ? The only benefit I see is that you are unlikely to get ganked outside of the MC instance. LOL.

Well okay. Just thought of another benefit. Youre not gonna be pesterd for 5-man Strat in IF, while your busy showing off your epic gear outside the bank.

You obviously have no idea what its like to play on a legit server.

How much time are you going to invest in your character before Blizzard closes that server down ? Another waste.

I played on a emulated server first, back a year ago, I had a level 35 Mage, character wipe.. played again, got a Level 38 Mage, server became totally unstable and basically messed up the characters.

Now on Official for almost more than 8 months

I would totally agree. Emu's are simply not worth it. You put so much time and effort into on character, the last thing you need is an emu server closing down and you loosing your character. If you guys are worried about latency, three of us are currently testing our local unshaping server which is hosted at Internet Solutions, playing WOW using sockscap I average around 400-500ms on an iburst connection playing on the US Blackhand server. We are thinking of offering this local socks unshaping service for WOW only at R 89 for 1gb of traffic. As you are aware WOW does not use much traffic. Would anyone be interested in this?

Erm that is a bit much. I am also not a fan of using socks cap. I truly hate it.

I pay R50/month for a VPN that is hosted right on the SAIX backbone. Its pretty awesome to use.

here's what i did

Whats the best unofficial/hacked wow server us South Africans can play on. I tried a couple but not one is playable (lag +/-3000ms). Anyone else having any success?

When i got my ADSL 192kbs shaped...i also had a +-3000ms ping, but then i installed nuke proxy and the ping dropped to about 600ms.
After about a month of using nuke proxy my friend (who also used the proxy) said it's not needed anymore, so i tried logging onto Frostwhisper without it and got pings of 400ms to 700ms (btw i *** telkom out alot about the overseas latency b4 installing the proxy).

So i dunno y u continue to get bad pings like -+3000ms.....it should be no worse than 1200ms if you are playing on WoW EU server
