Recently when using the Johannesburg and Capetown Servers with UnoTelly and Afrihost some websites time out, I contacted UnoTelly and after some troubleshooting they determined a connection problem between Afrihost (MTN) and Akamai Technology (96.16.223.154)

Basically alot of websites time out, some include Emirates, Jeppesen, Facebook Videos etc

When switching to their Seattle and California Servers the issue is resolved but the speeds are much slower (due to the distance between here and the US west coast I'd assume, i.e latency)

Afripeople please re-enable the PM feature here, dealing with emails between Afrihost is a painful endeavor
And please can you take a look on your side? :D

And has/is anyone experiencing similar issues?

I've had the same. I was wondering if it was with Afrihost.
Switched to Germany and Ireland and its all fine now.
But I'd still like it resolved. And for the last three nights I've had my ADSL go down around 21:00 for a short period, then come back up again.

Basically here is my email conversation between them

Hi

We have determined the issue is between MTN Business network and Akamai Technology.

Please contact your ISP and indicate the following information:

Dear My_ISP,

1. I have trouble connecting to this IP address: 96.16.223.154
2. It works for friends who are not in MTN networks.
3. All my friends in MTN networks cannot connect to this IP address.
4. Is there some sort of block to Akamai's network?
5. Could you please help?

Feel free to contact us for any additional assistance you may need.

Thank you for using UnoTelly!

Just got this email from Tech Support, all seems to be working on my side now

Hi,

We have been informed by MTN Business that they are working with Akamai to resolve the network issue of users in the MTN network.

Meanwhile, we applied a temporary solution to redirect MTN users to other Akamai servers in our Cape Town 197.242.94.51 and Johannesburg 197.189.212.164 .

Our fix is temporary to enable access while MTN is fixing the problematic route in its network.

Please give it a try by setting your DNS to 197.242.94.51 and 197.189.212.164 , and let us know if it works.

Feel free to contact us for any additional assistance you may need.
