Unotelly DNS + NAT IP

Hi Guys,

Hope someone can help me.

So I have a fixed wireless connection for internet at home. I want to use unotelly DNS service to access Netflix etc.
Problem is, I enter the DNS info on the PC (have tried entering it on the router as well) but it just wont work. The IP i get from the ISP is an internal NAT'ed IP which is then NAT'ed again in my network.

Wan IP: 196.xxx.xxx.xxx
PPPOE Client IP 10.1.xxx.xxx
Internal Net IP: 192.168.x.x

What would be the likely cause? When I do a NSLOOKUP I can see that it is using the DNS server that I specify but Netflix still wont work. Could a transparent proxy be causing this issue?

I'd appreciate any suggestions.

Have you tested that unotelly is working correctly by going to their website?
 
I don't think you'll be able to get around this. It looks like your ISP will respond to a DNS request, they've probably set it up this way and it will override whatever DNS you specify
 
I've tested on my previous ISP account and it works 100%. On the new connection it says setup unsuccessful.

@YingYang I suspected as much. Is there no way to bypass the ISP DNS by maybe rerouting DNS request on a different port?

No.

You might need to go for the UnoVPN option if indeed they are hijacking your DNS requests or running an invisible proxy.

Why the long face, you can still do that! Try the UnoVPN suggestion Sinbad is suggesting.

An even more fun solution would be to buy a VPS ($15 for a year over here) which is already hosted in the US and then creating a VPN and tunneling your connection through it onto the internet.

That way, all your georestriction-issues are resolved as well.

My problem is (and I suppose its just me being anal) but i've upgraded to a 50Mbps connection. I will be losing a hell of a lot of bandwidth with the vpn. Bu ti suppose that is the only option left.

OK so im a poephol :D

They have assigned me a static ip and all is well.
