Hey guys,

Being techies you probably heard of UnoTelly...so I configured it following this guide. Truth be told, I'm well impressed. In fact so dam impressed that I guess I won't be going the DSTV route after all :D (those m*&%$r f^$**^g sharks). Any words of wisdom from felly users ...most welcome =)  :D

Regards,
R

with them aswell, let me know how goes without dstv :) also concedring going that route of Hulu+ and dropping DSTV cant justify paying R625 a month for repeats and when can pay 6month sub to HULU for that.

:) enjoy and give us feedback on how it feels :D

This looks awesome.

Can you guys let me know what you are using, device, line speed and so forth and then how you go about setting it up as its TLDNR

I use UnoTelly, through my xbox on a 10Mb line. I have heard about issues with UnoTelly and xbox, I will say, it is not HD quality. I am always stuck on 1 bar, maybe 2.

Other than that? Worth it to be honest. Will also be going Hulu+ route as Netflix is running out of stuff I like :P

So me not being in IT and all, I subscribe to unotelly and they give me a DNS which I put into my router so everything on my wifi can access netflix right? How does this affect other things like gaming and downloads?

I am using 2mbps silver uncapped from openweb. not streaming HD but streaming high on HULU+

get Unotelly acc and then whatever other service you would like that is locked as US only. it is really simple.

Unotelly + HULU+ i think is R180 in total a month. if series isnt on HULU i just NZB it. really great services. You can buy HULU+ vouchers from BUYPOWERSELLER - 3month.

to setup hulu acc i use Apple HQ address and get fake US number etc :) rest is up to you if have credit card and paypal etc. i went voucher route as thats easier for me.

HULU+ does have ads. adblock on chrome stops hulu+ from working so i just pause adblock and let it show the 2 ads as there ads are actually good. but thats all. really good stuff.

if have HTPC id get XMBC on it and hulu add on and play stuff that way :)

So it isn't routing all traffic through an outside server it's just pretending my PC is in america by spoofing my DNS or ip address or whatever?

Correct. Depending on which UnoTelly DNS server you pick there might be a slight delay in name resolution (going from www.google.co.za to 173.194.75.94, for example) but your connection is as normal thereafter. What you're describing would be the case when using either a proxy or VPN, but not with the DNS redirects UnoTelly are using.

Which is what sets it apart from other methods? Sounds good.

This month I'm dropping to DSTV compact, getting an apple TV and netflix.

Why even bother keeping DSTV around at all? The selection of channels you get with compact is pretty worthless.

I'm in two minds regarding UnoTelly, simply because I would assume Netflix and Hulu would find it much easier to block them than they would a decent VPN. There's also the matter of my connection to Netflix's server farms surely being traceable to a South African IP address, and thus opening the door to them explicitly blocking my account...

UnoTelly does work very, very well but I can't help but be a bit concerned.

If you're paying on a monthly basis then there's really not a huge risk on the off chance that Hulu would decide to block it. I don't see Netflix ever blocking it because I'm pretty sure they like the extra income. :)

eBay vouchers FTW! :D Wouldn't dream of paying monthly, and measured against Monochoice it's still relatively low risk...

Look, I'm not saying they'd like to, but they are ultimately bound by the terms of their contracts with the content providers. I've come across the odd report of various services being blocked, and upon investigation I do like the added layers of anonymity that a VPN would provide. I've been using UnoTelly for 2 weeks or so now, but I think I'll give a VPN a shot as well. If performance is comparable I'll rather go that route.

I don't see any Unotelly vouchers on Ebay?

Talked past each other a bit there - Hulu & Netflix vouchers, which would be an issue if either were to block you at account level. As for UnoTelly I agree on the low risk of month-to-month dealings with them.

Fair enough - I'm not a Hulu+ subscriber (yet?) but I do subscribe to Netflix UK and my biggest fear is they stop the roaming feature which currently allows me to use Netflix US without any hassles. Since I have a UK creditcard signing up for Netflix UK was the easiest option.
