Not sure if anyone else is experiencing this same problem

Its seems that since the latest patch for WOW my FPS (Frames per Second) has become so bad that in instances it drops as low as 5 FPS and the game becomes unplayable

I am not sure what the cause of this is but am hoping that someone has a solution

Not sure if it has something to do with the fact that I am in South Africa and the WOW server is in the UK

When I am out and about in Azeroth I get on average 40 FPS but as soon as I go to any major city it drops to about 12 FPS and as soon as I try any large 25 man dungeon it just becomes impossible with an FPS of 3

Do any of you other SA players have the same problem and do you know how to fix this

I have a P4 3.0 ghz D processor with 2 GIG memory and a Geforce 8500GT 512MB Graphics Card. I have downloaded the latest forcewarce drivers

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks
Mark

You could try re-installing everything? :)

Kidding aside, I've found that after a patch upgrade that sometimes my addons causes a crap load of lag. Make sure all of them are updated.

This might sound little far fetch but this is my 2c

I have played in PUG's in many a instances. Playing with people that has sub 40 pings and others. In those instances I tend to get a lot of lag spikes and FPS drops. Reason i would assume is that my actions taken takes longer to be done. The difference build up to a point where a lag spike happens then it's like the server resets my actions to be up to date with the others again.

Playing with other people from SA in the same instance, this is more or less the same ping and I get NO and I mean NO lag, Lag spikes or any other issue. Since then I tend to group with the same people to do instances. They experianced the same and our instances now go without any issues. Just a thought.

Yes I know from past experiences that addons play havoc with the game. I have streamlined my use of addons down to the bare minimum. I will double check tonight that I have the latest versions of all of them

When you refer to lag are you refering to your ms, most people get between 300 - 800ms or are you talking about the Frame rate (FPS) which drops to 3fps in instances

The reason I ask is that I think it is the low FPS which is making the game unplayable in instances and not the actual latency which is pretty constant no matter where I am in game

Oh yeah forgot to mention that I have a 4mb unshaped line

What sort of FPS are you guys getting in game, major cities and instances?

My WoW runs at about 60 fps but I recently upgraded.

One thing that you might want to check is Recount. If you are using it it might be the cause of your fps issues. I know some people get big issues with it.

I have the same problem. Since the patch my fps suddenly drops to 14 fps during raids. The only way to get it sorted out is to reopen wow. Many people are having problems, just google it. I think its something to do with nvidia 8 series cards. I have an 8600GT....

My fps is always good just not in ogrimar it drops with about 30.
Wonder if fps got anything to with your pc spec?

Like cetain stategy games if they get too crowded the game kickes out( like red alert 2 and if you make too many units)
or is game speed goes very slow even on open lan?

I have seen it with old games on new machines too weird :(.

Prepatch I was getting 90FPS now I am averaging 30FPS in a raid and about 50 in Shat. I have a dual core, 2gigs ram and a 8800GTS graphics card.

All my mods have been updated and latest drivers installed. Still have not been able to get it any higher.

Internet lag definitely negatively affects a person's FPS. When my ping spikes to over 1500 I usually drop to around 5FPS

60fps in raids and 100fps outside, also on a dual core amd 5000 with 2 gig ram and a 7950 Nvidia card.
My FPS used to drop down by 15-20% when my virus program was making a full scan, now I dont even realise it is scanning.

A number of addons can make your fps drop in raids. Nr 1 on the list is klthreatmeter change to omen asap! It is known to drop fps in raids
Damange meters, with recount taking the lead as the most resource hungry application, reset it as often as possible and try not to run several different damage meters, they all have their own page files and tries to collect data from 24 other people in your raid.
Ctraid assist if you or any one in your raid is not up to date with the latest raid addon (Ctmod or Ora2) your PC strugles to track all the raid stuff and in the past this have given many fps problems.
Auctioneer, deactivate this during raids the page file of this can be huge!

Lastly check out the official forums their may be more specific fps issues that can be fixxed by changing some windows settings.

You'll need to explain that because it's either FPS or lag.
There is no such thing as fps lag.

yes there is

its when you don't have lag (in the normal sense) but whenever you click on something your PC goes "**** youzzzzz!"

Ive had a similar issue only in SSC tho =/

normally in SSC i run at 55-60fps, altho on wednesday last week, my fps wouldnt go higher than 15fps, everywhere else tho, its 60. Ive turned down all my video settings to medium expecting some form of change in fps, yet nothing happened

ive got a 6000+ amd dual core, 2gb ram with a 8800gts

pretty much the same problem as Maryjane

/slap blizz for dropping my dps

If your CPU usage isn't maxxing then I'd run perfmon and check your disk usage metrics.

Could be something is scanning a drive and killing your seek times.

did you guys try the WMP trick?

I've heard of this but don't know the specifics.

What do you do? open media player before you run the game or while you're running it alt+tab and start it?

Yeah just run WMP before you launch the game. wont work if you are already in the game. :)
