Hey
Sorry if this has been dealt with before. I did try to search the forums for "lag", "latency" and "slow" but couldn't find anything useful hence my posting.
I've been experiencing incredibly high latency since the quake (in Taiwan) earlier this week. The SAIX noticeboard says that they are waiting on their Internation Provider to sort out the problem. Am I to believe thwn that all our International traffic is routed via Asia? Or does the cable going down between New York and Hong Kong mess SAIX up so badly that GW can't run properly? I'm being specific about GW as there seems to be no problem with browsing at all.
I've tested this on two seperate ADSL 384kbps accounts in two different locations (in Pretoria). One in Moreleta Park, the other in Centurion. The one uses TelkomInternet and the other SAOL. Both run on SAIX, of course.
Is anyone else out there (in South Africa, using TelkomInternet or SAOL or any other SAIX provider for that matter) experiencing the same problem?
