Unshaped on 1 Nov ?

For the 1st time ever I got a phone call from an ISP (soal) that actually told me what to do to get the account working before I could get home and needed to phone. I made the change and i could immediately see the improvement.

Shaped is really sucky!!, esp for gaming to international hosted games. (WOW, SWG, Guidwars etc...)

I have been with SAOL for about 5 months, and never have I experienced sub 400 pings consistently (EU Servers). And I stand corrected but none of my guild mates have either .

Just FYI: My ping via Mrtg is < 400ms: This is just the latency to the authentication servers. My latency in game is usually between 500-600ms.

Just bought a gig of unshaped but the username i was emailed does not have ".unshaped" appended. I have connected with the setting given and i appear to be in the shaped pool.
Where do i tag the .unshaped on??

Hi Dave, Apologies for that, there was a small window between when we manually moved over everyone to ".unshaped" and the new signup code being updated by development.

If you PM me your code I'll have someone fix it up ASAP.

Thanks again Matt, but its all sorted I just added the .unshaped on the end and it works.
Just want to commend you guys again on great service, and on being imaginative enough to implement this prepaid data.
Its really amazing how much of a difference unshaped bandwidth makes to using skype.

Im currently with Telkom in CT on 512k 3 Gig crap, and unshaped. My pings to Euro servers for WoW are around 500-600ms.

If I go shapped will I really see much of a difference, from what I can tell it probably will not make much difference.

Btw when people post their latency, please remember to post your location, after all jhb is closer to Europe than Cape Town is, and will probably have a shorter route to the international gateway, reducing the ping slightly.

For the record I actually miss my UK BT Internet connection, man I never thought I'd say that... THANKS TELKOM!
