Hi,

would it benefit me, and if yes, how much, to change my adsl account from a 1024k shaped, to 1024k unshaped account specifically referring to WoW performance?? (datapro via SAIX)

i currently get latency of between 500 and 700 running to laptops on same line playing WoW....

(sorry if there is another thread like this, but i couldnt find it)

It pretty much boils down to Unshaped is better.
If you're ok with the latency from shaped then there is no point in switching.

i was 'okay' with having a 512k line a year or 3 back, now i have a 1024k line and cant imagine how i managed to be 'okay' with the 512k, so being okay with something is sometimes only cause you dont know of any better? we were all okay with black and white screens on 286 computers back in the 80's.... not being nasty, just asking, what would the dif be?

It varies but the latency you're getting is already pretty good. It might drop to as low as 300ms. Whether or not you feel it's worth the extra expense is up to you.

Personally, I only play wow on Unshaped. Raiding and other.

so basically it would drop from say 600avg to 300 avg? mmmmmmm tempting...

all boils down to the following:

  • Class
  • PVP -vs- PVE

Caster generally dont have to worry about lag much. Sure it helps but its
not all that bad.

Melee class u might wanna try get the lowest ping possible due to the range in which u attack (Melee) the quicker the server and u communicate.
the more accurate the server will pin point u to the player to start doing damage. (u might get errors saying u are not in range or facing the player)

PVP - Totally up to u :P see class section though, else its up to u.

PVE - Totally! u need the best ping to keep up with the international boys
and girls.
